A Coca Cola ad with The Lion and The Mouse. The mouse gets caught by the lion and begs for mercy. He is released and promises to help the lion someday. But now TiVo has changed into a home entertainment utility with video content from more than a hundred sources and an ad sales department. A wonderful blast from the past, from 1952 – the I Like Ike presidential campaign ad for Dwight D. Eisenhower, who served two terms (1953-1961) as President of the United States. This ad is a less than slick cartoon with some terrific caricatures. Ike was the 34th President and served as Supreme Commander for US troops on D-Day, the massive beach landing on the French coast that led to the end of World War II. The tone of this political ad from 50 years ago is in sharp contrast to the ads we suffer through today – and we hope that the people who make these ads gain some insight for future presidential campaign themes.
